DeiSaku – Fanfic Ch. 3

Outside the window of the Hokage’s office the clouds drifted lazily across the blue sky. Birds chirped in the nearby trees and the sunlight that streamed in through the window warmed Sakura’s face. Deidara was still sitting next to her, explaining his story.

“Why would you betray Uchiha like this Deidara?” Tsunade questioned him.

“I have a pure hatred towards him,” Deidara retorted.

“Why then did you help him in betraying your leaders?”

“To tell the truth I was getting sick of being restrained by them,” Deidara glanced at Sakura for a brief moment and then looked back at Tsunade, “I like to be free with my art.”

“Very well then,” Tsunade stood up, “Sakura?”

“Yes, ma’am,” Sakura stood up as well.

“You shall carry out a mission of capturing Uchiha Itachi along with Deidara,” Tsunade stated.

Sakura nodded, “Is there anyone else accompanying us?”

Tsunade looked down and thought for a moment, “Team Gai is already out on a mission, and so is Kurenai’s team…”

“Naruto-kun and Kakashi-sensei have just gotten back from their mission and are currently recovering …” Sakura added.

Deidara looked from Tsunade then back to Sakura.

“Shikamaru is in Suna once again for the upcoming Chuunin exams…” Tsunade looked at Deidara, “I believe that you are the only ones who can do it for the time being. Once Kakashi and Naruto recover fully I shall send them out after you.”

“Very well then, Tsunade-sama,” Sakura bowed.

Deidara seeing Sakura bow in respect, he too bowed towards the Hokage.

“You two shall start the mission in two days, until then, Sakura you shall take care of Deidara and make sure he does not cause mischief.”

“Yes Tsunade-sama.”

~

Sakura lead Deidara down the long corridor of the building. Several people looked at him and then started to whisper to each other. Deidara felt awkward inside; like he didn’t belong. Sakura saw Deidara discomfort on his face and simply linked her arm with his to make him feel at ease. Deidara smiled at bit. He was very grateful for what she had just done. He didn’t know why but he suddenly felt a sort of warmth inside himself for her.  They continued to walk down the corridor side-by-side.

“Come on, I’ll show you around,” Sakura gestured to the park.

Deidara simply looked at Sakura.

“It’ll pass the time,” Sakura smiled.

~

Deidara sat down on a bench under a giant tree. The shade from the tree was nice and cool in the sun. The breeze was also a nice relief from the heat. Sakura walked up to him and handed him a glass of water and then sat down next to him. She smiled up at him gently and then drank from her own glass. Deidara didn’t know what to do now, should he smile back and then drink or just simply drink? He hesitated for a second then smiled back at her.

“You have a nice smile, Deidara-kun,” Sakura stated, “It is alright if I call you that, right?”

Deidara looked a bit shocked at Sakura, “Uh-uh…n-no I don’t mind and uh thank you, I guess.”

“No problem,” Sakura then took another drink from her glass, and then placed it down on the seat next to her.

Deidara looked at Sakura. Her link pink hair, although odd, was quite beautiful in the sunlight and her green eyes were so pure and clear. Deidara’s cheek turned a little pink as he looked at her. Sakura looked back at Deidara and their eyes met. Both of them just looked at each other’s eyes. Deidara’s heart started to beat fast; so did Sakura’s. Deidara moved forward a bit and so did Sakura, as if she was welcoming him to press his lips against hers.

“Hiya, Sakura-chan!”

Deidara and Sakura jerked away from each other quickly. Deidara was panting hard and his heart was beating extremely hard. Sakura face was bright red now and she was holding her head in both hands trying to figure out what had just happened.

Naruto stood grinning at them from a little further away, “Sakura-chan! I haven’t seen you in ages! How are you?” Naruto stopped at the sight of Deidara.

Deidara looked back at Naruto.

“W-why is this guy h-here?” Naruto stammered, clearly annoyed while quite rudely pointing his finger in Deidara direction.

“He is helping me out on a new mission in two days,” Sakura looked at Naruto. His face was covered with scars and his head was wrapped in a bandage.

“He is part of the Akatsuki!” Naruto now yelled.

“Naruto calm down please,” Sakura begged Naruto as he strode over to them, “Tsunade-sama has approved him and we are going through with this mission whether you like it or not.”

Naruto crossed his arms at Deidara. Sakura looked up at Naruto and saw the anger in his eyes. Had he seen them almost kissing? Sakura hoped not.

“Fine,” Naruto pouted, “I’m going to talk to Granny-Tsunade about this.”

Sakura sighed as Naruto marched off in a huff.

Deidara gave Sakura a quizzical look which Sakura returned with a quite abrupt “What?”

Deidara pointed over his shoulder at Naruto leaving, “Is the Hokage really his Grandmother?”

Sakura whacked a hand to her forehead in annoyance at Deidara’s stupidity.

“No she isn’t.”

“Then why did he call her “Granny-Tsunade”?”

“Never mind, it’s just kind of like a nickname that he calls her because she is so old.”

“Oh okay,” Deidara turned back and drank the rest of his water.
